you're the first mom, right? I think open, or an option to open is good. Our adoption (i'm the A-mom) is technically open because we have full names and contact info. However the first mom doesn't want contact. I can see her point if this way is easier for her. However this way she is able to get in touch with us if she wants to. She could try the agency too, but you never know if an agency will be around in 5, 10 or 15 yrs. From my point of view I would like an open adoption, but feel the choice should be hers.
I haven't heard of your agency though. I adopted in the US. Good luck with everything.
