ACI – Vancouver

I am planning to meet my friends for skiing out west during the week before Christmas to avoid the crowds. We have always wanted to go to Whistler to ski but we are worried that it wont have good snow. I’m not sure if we should risk the possibility of rain all week. Would it be wiser to forget BC and go with Breck? I have heard the snow there is great.

In a good snow year in the PNW Whistler may still be iffy before Christmas. There is snow making on many slopes but unless it is cold that is chancy. For the best party, Whistler, for the best snow, if I could predict the future I’d know what 6 numbers to play for tonight’s Lotto drawing. Try to delay making a commitment until much later in the year. By Thanksgiving you may know about Whistler. Have fun. The best snow for Whistler is usually in late January to late March. If it rains in the Village, then it is snowing on top. 5000 foot of elevation means rain at the bottom, corn in the mid station and powder in the back bowls.

I am planning on going to Whistler for my honeymoon next year but I am very unfamiliar with the area. I want to know if anyone can recommend a nice (but not overpriced) resort close to whistler-blackcomb. Possibly include web address and what was nice about it.

Does Whistler Blackcomb have free buses like Breckenridge CO or would it be better to rent a car?

"Hi"……….Getting around in Whistler is very easy and you "DON’T" need a rental car !
( Parking can be a problem anyway although there are parking lots )

Whatup everybody I was wondering if it is worth paying a couple hundred dollars more to go to Whistler Blackcomb or stay in the US and go to resorts in Colorado like Breckenridge and Crested Butte. Imma amateur snowboarder and we are taking this trip for spring break. Thanks

Colorado is amazing!!! Definitely stay in the U.S. and save your money!!

i know the mountain is open already, but according to the site it is only open up to the middle of the mountain when will the higer areas open??

It really depends on the weather each year. Last season the PNW had one of the greatest snow years in the past 30, This year it is a little less. Whistler is the premiere ski resort in North America. The resort may have rocks in the base area and a foot of dry powder on the top of the mountain. In the past years I have skied great snow in April and even into later May. I have also had no snow on some of the upper slopes at the same time of year. No matter, it is the best resort in North America for snow, terrain and party. Go, Have Fun and enjoy yourself.
