Where interesting if you are driving from Whistler to Vancouver airport but don"t want to go into the city?

November 22, 2010 Posted by Larry Welks

Have 3 hours to spare. Maybe there is something interesting to visit on route?
I have 7 hours in total to drive from Whistler to vancouver airport so I am thinking I will have some time to spare. Am going in mid-March. Any ideas of something to do without driving back into Vancouver?

I agree with the others, you will probably need the three hours for travelling with construction on the Sea to Sky Highway and a risk of slides in rainy weather you can’t predict delays. You can’t really avoid the city when you are going from Whistler to the airport. Going the longer route around the city is uneventful and is just surburbia. A real shame in come to Vancouver to not see any of it.
Coming back from Whistler I would stop in Squamish and check out Shannon Falls which are the tallest falls in BC. There are a few spots along the highway coming back as well which you can stop at and take pictures of the amazing views. Drive down to Vancouver perhaps stop in Horseshoe Bay which is located in West Vancouver and check out the ferries, grab something to eat, check out lighthouse park, then drive into Vancouver over Lions Gate Bridge. You can drive around within Stanley Park rather then through it and it is a great quick scenic drive. Just take the first exit after the bridge. You will end up in English Bay and you can head over Burrard Street or Granville Street bridge enroute to the
airport. Have fun.

-The Sea to Sky Highway is very curvy and if you are driving at night it is very daunting, the cornes are sharp in places and the average speed is somewhere around 60km/hour. Police fines are double in construction zones and there is always a cop somewhere along the highways giving out tickets.

How to get from Seattle airport to Vancouver?

November 9, 2010 Posted by Larry Welks

Whats the fastest way to get from the airport of Seattle to Vancouver? doesn’t mater where in Vancouver just close to down tow or a sky train station will be fine.
Greyhound? train?

Thanks!

Vancouver, WA or Vancouver, BC? If it’s BC there’s shuttle buses you can take from Seatac to the Vancouver airport. It’s pretty inexpensive. Faster would be a rental car from the airport but they’re a bit more money. Also note that you need a passport to enter Canada. You can find info on Seatac’s website about transportation options.

If you mean Vancouver, WA, then not sure.

How do you get from Vancouver Airport to the greyhound bus station?

I’m coming home and i’d like to surprise my parents but i don’t know how to get to the bus station to get to Chilliwack… or do you know of any other way of getting to Chilliwack from YVR?

A simpler way to get from the airport to the bus station is to take the Canada Line Skytrain from YVR all the way to Waterfront Station. Then get off and onto either the Millennium Line or Expo Line to Main Street Science World. The bus station is just across the street to the east.

What is the best way to go from Vancouver airport to Surrey by public transport?

one is tranlink the vancouver bus system you take bus 404 fromthe airport to airport station leave every 30 minutes from the terminal and then take the b line bus 99 leave every 6 minutes during the midday week day week end around 7 minutes cost during the week is 3.50 week end 2.50 the only problem is if you got a lot of baggage

second is to take the airport bus that cost 8 .50 and goes directly downtown is faster and you can get baggage in it

What is the best way to get from Vancouver Airport to Whistler late at night?

The last shuttle I could find runs at 10pm which is to late.

Originally I had scheduled to ride Perimeter Transportation, but they went out of business last week. Now I am arriving to whistler at 10:45 pm on December 26th with no way to get to whistler. Should I take a cab for $240?

"Hi"…..Pacific Coach lines (PCL) has now taken over that route. You can contact them them here……..

http://www.pacificcoach.com/

*NOTE*…….If I am reading their sked correctly it looks as if their last departure from YVR to Whistler is 11.00 PM…you have to call and perhaps they’ll wait a few minutes for you!

Also Greyhound leaves from the terminal in the downtown area on Main and Hastings ( Bus Depot) and here’s their site ….

From Vancouver Airport you can get downtown by using the "Airporter" which is a shuttle service for $12.00 and what I am suggesting is that you stay a few hours at the YMCA and then hustle over to the Bus terminal and either get Greyhound or PCL and head to Whistler real early in the morning as both leave from the Bus depot !

Here’s the "Airporter" service…..

Heres the YMCA…….

Just my" considered opinion" as I live in Vancouver and have travelled the "Sea to Sky" many times but ,going to Whistler in a cab with someone you’re not sure of as concerns their driving skills , at night and on that road is folly …period !

Hope that helps ya and a "Merry Christmas"! *S* (Michael C…)

How do I get from Vancouver airport to Squamish by bus?

August 12, 2010 Posted by Larry Welks

I am planning a trip to Squamish for May 2007, and cannot find a website with a bus route from YVR to Squamish

I am also having the same problem, as I need to get to Squamish from Vancouver to look at investment opportunities in Squamish and have no car!

If you can get into Vancouver from the airport (the Airporter coach service, or taxi) you can then catch a Greyhound bus. Check out their website for available stops. It costs about $17 per person and take about 1hr 45min (there’s a lot of stops on the way!).

Other than that, find someone who is travelling their by car and lift share!

Let me know if you find anything better, as I will be planning a trip there soon!

Hope this helps,
Graham

How long does it take to reach Vancouver Airport from Vancouver Downtown using cab or bus?How much it’ll cost?

June 28, 2010 Posted by Larry Welks

I have to get out of US Consulate in downtown Vancouver around 3:30 pm on 22nd Aug and fly to Montreal on the same day. The earliest flight is 4:50 pm, and the next direct flight to Montreal is at 11PM. I need to be at my company’s conference in Montreal in the morning of Wednesday (23 Aug). I could use a Taxi–how much would it cost, and would it be faster? Or Vancouver’s traffic could be too bad? Would a bus be better–any other options to travel?

I suggest you take cab,I’ve ever taken cab from downtown vancouver to the airport.I spent $25 plus tip.
It took me about 35 minutes to there.

If you are in a hurry, take cab, if not, take buses.
In downtown,I think go to Granville street (near Robson street) take No.98 B-Line bus to YVR (have to get off at the airport transfer bus stop during the route). It takes about one hour up.
I had many times taken buses to YVR from downtown. Van
