What is the best way to get to Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel in Banff, CA?

November 22, 2010 Posted by Larry Welks

What airport should we fly into and then what transportation to the hote? Help me!

The nearest airport is probably Calgary International Airport. You can check with the Banff Springs Hotel to see if they have a shuttlebus service that you can use to get there, or else I would rent a car.

It is very easy to get to. Using Google Maps – Directions, I entered "YYC" as my starting point and "Banff Springs Hotel" as my destination.

Speghetti sauce at a fairmont hotel?

November 9, 2010 Posted by Larry Welks

Well I love staying at fairmont hotels!!!!
But I went to the Ramses resturant and ordered speghetti.
It was small but had 3 huge meatballs on top!!!
(I hope you know what I’m talking about ;) )
Anyway the sauce on the meatballs was amazing!!!!!!
Does anyone have the recipe?? Or anything close??!!

The only Ramses restaurants I found were at the Hilton, and not the Fairmont! Perhaps you can contact your favorite Fairmont and check with the restaurant directly. Sometimes they will be willing to part with a favorite recipe.

Who owns Fairmont Hotels?

October 22, 2010 Posted by Larry Welks

I am doing a project for Business on this company, and need to supply a history on Fairmont Hotels. From what I understand, the company was started in San Franciso, and grew from there. Then in 1999 they were purchased by The Canadian Pacific Hotels, who were already established internationally. What happens from there?

Is the company still Canadian?

Yes, you are correct.

From its roots as a smaller hotel group that joined forces with Canadian Pacific Hotels in 1999, Fairmont has grown into a leading luxury global hotel company, with over 56 destinations. Fairmont continues to be committed to growth, expanding its brand presence globally with a number of exciting hotel and mixed-use projects over the next few years in exciting destinations such as Cairo, Abu Dhabi, and South Africa and Shanghai, to name a few.

can any one tell me the best visiting places near by to Fairmont Hotel Vancouver?

September 29, 2010 Posted by Larry Welks

I want to know the best and worth visiting places near by the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver
900 West Georgia Street, Vancouver, BC, CA , V6C 2W6, which one should not miss visiting them when they travel to vancouver??

- The Bill Reid Art Gallery http://www.billreidgallery.ca/ is about a block away, and well worth a visit.

– Try a Japadog (Japanese-style hot dog on Burrard Steet near Smythe, about 4 blocks away.

– The Vancouver Art Gallery is a block away.

– You may want to just walk down to the water (towards the mountains); there’s a foot/bicycle path that can take you all the way to Stanley Park. There are a couple of places to rent bikes around there; a bike ride around Stanley Park is always good. Or, if you turn right instead of left, you’ll end up at the seabus terminal. Take a seabus ride to the north shore and walk arounfd the little mall there, then take the seabus back.

– You can walk a couple of blocks to Burrard Skytrain Station, then take the skytrain out to Surrey, and back. It’s a lovely ride assuming you can see the mountains.

Has anyone ever stayed at the Fairmont Hotel in Downtown San Jose? If so, what did you like about it?

September 11, 2010 Posted by Larry Welks

Please explain why or why not. Also, what do you guys think about their valet only parking?

I’ve stayed there about a dozen times, it was my "home base" for every Game Developer’s Conference at the San Jose convention center…

The parking sucks. But a lot of higher-end hotels have valet-only parking. You can park for free behind the hotel and 1 block north, but your car will be out in the open (watch out for thieves).

The hotel itself is nice enough. Don’t get a room in the "new" tower (across from the main building), the main building rooms are nicer. The large lobby bar is a great hangout spot, with big comfy chairs. Walking distance to the conv. center, good restaurants and good variety nearby…
On a scale of 1-10 out of all the hotels I’ve stayed in (literally thousands), I give it a 7.

Can anyone provide me with a list of luxury hotels within the Canadian Rockies?

August 12, 2010 Posted by Larry Welks

besides Fairmont Hotels

There is the Banff springs hotel, the chateaux Lake Louise, the Rimrock resort hotel in Banff, the Royal Canadian Lodge in Banff, Moraine lake Lodge in Lake Louise, the Kananaskis Lodge, the Fernie house and the Jasper Park Lodge. There are probably more but that’s all I can think of right now.
Hope this helps! :)

How far away is John hopkins hospital from Fairmont washington hotel and how long does it take to and from?

July 18, 2010 Posted by Larry Welks

The Fairmont Washington is just inside Georgetown at 24th and M Streets, and Johns Hopkins is in Baltimore.
The distance is 41 miles. Under normal conditions, around an hour, but given Washington traffic, probably more like two.
It really depends on how crowded the Beltway is.
