We are a young (26 and 28 y.o.) couple from Moscow, Russia, planning to spent 3 days in Toronto and 5 in Vancouver on the last week of may. How to plan this time right to enjoy Canada?
Which places in this cities are most interesting?
Is it possible to travel from Toronto to Ottawa for 1 day by bus or train?
Can anybody recommend a budget accomodation in this cities?
Ottawa is a bit too far for a day trip.
When you are in Vancouver you should go over to Vancouver Island/Victoria and up to Whistler.
I love the old growth forests and the rain forests on Vancouver Island.
Carmanah Walbran Provincial Park, on the southwest coast of Vancouver Island, is home to some of the world’s largest spruce trees.
The Carmanah Giant, at 95 metres, is thought to be the tallest Sitka spruce in the world, although it is less than 400 years old! There are much older, gnarled cedars estimated to be well over 1,000 years old clinging to the side hills.
Pacific Rim National Park is outstanding but it is a far drive from Vancouver (about 6 hours of the most beautiful scenery in the world).
Whale watching:
The best viewing of the Orcas (Killer whales) is from May to October.
As for budget accommodations, I always camp (if you camp make sure you make reservations, people come from all over the world to see beautiful BC).
If you want to enjoy your trip be aware of EXPEDIA, it can ruin your trip if you book with them. Read this plenty of horribles stories here: http://www.victimsofexpedia.com

No Ottawa is about a 5 hour drive. There are lots daily filghts. In both Toronto and Vancouver budget about $100 Canadian a night for a decent hotel near downtown, but you can sometimes find cheaper deals…if you want to see something cool in Toronto go to the College Street area, lots of great clubs and in Vancouver try the Robson Street area or Granville Island.

have a great time!! be sure to visit Niagara Falls! In Toronto a few of the best places to visit are Canada’s Wonderland, Ontario Science Centre, The Toronto Zoo and of course the CN Tower.

I hope that you are flying from Toronto to Vancouver.
As mentioned above, Niagara Falls is a good day trip from Toronto. I recommend that either you rent a car (about $150 for the trip), or take a bus (about the same amount of $). The maid of the mist ($15) is a boat ride close to the falls, The journey behind the falls ($15) is also recommended. In downtown Niagara Falls, there is plenty to do – museums, shops, restaurants; this place is a total tourist trap, but you should check it out.
Hotels in Niagara Falls vary in terms of ** quality and price. If you go a little bit outside of the "tourist zone" you should be able to find reasonable deals. Someone at an information centre will help you with that. It’s about a 2 hour drive from Toronto to Niagara Falls.
In Ottawa from May 5 to 22 is the Tulip Festival which is extremely popular for tourists. Will you be there at that time? The drive from Toronto to Ottawa is 6 hours, and frankly, unless you are seeing the tulip festival, you are not really missing much (sorry Ottawa).
Another day-trip from Toronto that you might consider is a place called Stratford. Here they have the #1 rated Shakespeare festival in the world. Do you like small colonial cities and theatre? This is the place to go, 1 hour from Toronto, and very reasonable hotels.
http://www.stratford-festival.on.ca/
is a site talking about the plays on at Stratford at the moment.
Also, in canada we have things called "bed and breakfast". It’s like a hotel, but it’s at somebody’s house usually and breakfast is always included. It’s usually a little bit cheaper, an interesting experience, and a good way to meet other travellers and the locals. If you can manage to find one of these (you won’t in Toronto, but in Stratford/Niagara Falls, you will), you can ask the locals about cool things to see.
I hope this helps! Have fun in Canada! The weather is going to be warm and sunny, so enjoy yourselves!

I am a tour guide in the area
For a cheap place to stay in Toronto, I can suggest the Backpackers Hotel at the corner of King and Spadina. It will be full of travellers about your age..its good and inexpensive.. and it is located in a great area in toronto.

I have traveled to many countries, including my own, Canada. From my experiences in Canada, unless you plan to spend 14 days or more, you will have to fly to have any time on a 9 day trip to enjoy anything. However, Canada is the most expensive place I have ever flown in.
I recommend selecting a theme or region and discovering that this trip.
